Pier B. Richardson

The passion to develop a network that aids individuals and families in reducing the pressures and costs of filing a bankruptcy petition began back in 2003. Pier B. Richardson, the Founder & CEO, was compelled to file a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy after suffering a personal hardship. Pier incurred some medical expenses that were astronomical and her paycheck was barely making it to the next. Her husband had been laid off and jobs at that time were scarce. It was very hard and she had no other choice but to file bankruptcy.

Back then, lawyers were charging filers, who were already in financial distress @ $2200 to file a chapter 13 and @ $1200 to file a chapter 7 bankruptcy. That didn't include filing fees and court fees. Attorney's, along with the court and the trustee were some of the first to be paid. It was set up like that because of the level of defaults due to non payments. It was really hard back then!

Fed up with how the system was set up, Pier quickly realized that there was a need to help the people who truly needed it the most... Especially at a time when things seemed to be falling apart in one’s life! She vowed to find a way (as soon as she and her family were cleared of their hardship) that would reduce the cost, save time and relieve the pressures of filing bankruptcy. She reached out to her former brother in law, Attorney Richard Fields, a prominent Civil Rights Attorney for guidance. In her research, Pier discovered that it was not the law which dictates the use of an attorney while filing the bankruptcy petition. It was and still is what Attorneys and the bankruptcy trustees promote for excessive financial gain. Bankruptcy law is written where any common man has the right to represent himself when filing a petition. This is when Pier began the rigorous campaign to develop a system which would aid and support others with the process of filing a correct, a complete, and a successful Pro-Se bankruptcy petition.

After gathering the information, she, launched an online website that guided many individuals through the process of filing a successful Pro-Se (say) Bankruptcy Petition. Today, Pier has taken on a new roll and that is of a credit advocate. She realized that even after filing chapter 13 or 7 bankruptcy, the journey to financial stability and financial freedom had one last step. The step was restoring the mess the creditors and 3 credit bureaus had made of individuals credit information. After a year or so of researching and joining associations such as the Credit Consultants Association, she received her FCRA (Fair Credit Reporting Act) certification. She added a Credit Score Enhancement Search Engine to direct clients to reparable credit score enhancement companies. Introducing, Credit Mercy Network, formally known as 713mercy.com.
